HISTORY
Founded
in 1981, Guild Associates started by providing technical
services and contract R&D to local industries. With
industrial success, and as an early participant in the SBIR
program, Guild quickly grew its reputation in chemical and
adsorption sciences. The company grew in the philosophy
of the medieval guilds, which were associations of craftsman
known for their skill, expertise and quality. With each
major project attained, Guild grew its technical base of
talent while building the business expertise to support
the direction of its R&D and engineering pursuits.
As the scope of development projects broadened, Guild’s
technical base expanded to include mechanical and electronics
engineering, biotechnology, systems integration, logistics
and manufacturing. In 1993 Guild saw an opportunity to strengthen
its research base and opened a laboratory in White Marsh,
MD to support work done for the military. Since moved to
Bel Air, this research and engineering group focuses on
filter development, adsorption, modeling, safety, manufacturing,
and more.
In recent years, Guild has diversified its capabilities.
With the addition of several PhD’s in the fields of
chemistry and biology, Guild has managed to create and exploit
opportunities that were, until recently, unavailable. One
such project that has entered full commercial production
is Guild’s SDS Project. The M100 SDS was developed
to replace the M11 for immediate decontamination equipment.
The M100 SDS removes gross contamination, limits the spread
of a chemical agent, preserves the integrity of Mission
Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) gear, and minimizes casualties.
In 2001 Guild expanded once again, this time adding a laboratory
in Charleston, SC focusing on biotechnology. This research
center is focusing on development of novel biosensors and
bio-separation technologies.
